U.S. Department of State Launches Academy for Women Entrepreneurs Summit to Aid Ukraine’s Economic Revival
In a move highlighting its ongoing support for Ukraine, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has unveiled plans for the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) AWE4Ukraine Summit, set to take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia from June 10–13.
This summit, organized in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, aims to harness American business expertise and technology to rejuvenate Ukraine’s entrepreneurial landscape, fostering sustainable economic growth by enhancing the business skills and networks of 73 Ukrainian AWE alumni.
Despite facing challenges due to Russia’s invasion, Ukrainian AWE participants, some of whom had to relocate to other European countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia, and Germany to complete the program, will convene in Slovenia for this significant event.
The summit will offer a platform for workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions, with a focus on fostering cross-border collaboration to establish a lasting peer-to-peer community among Ukrainian exchange alumni of AWE. Keynote speaker Kate Isler, CEO of TheWMarketplace, will share insights during the summit.
Aligned with the U.S. Strategy on Global Women’s Economic Security, which advocates for the full participation of women and girls in economic growth, AWE stands as a flagship initiative promoting entrepreneurship through expanded trade opportunities.
The support extended by the government and people of Slovenia to Ukraine amid Russia’s aggression has been commendable. The United States acknowledges Slovenia’s hospitality towards refugees and its assistance to Ukraine during these challenging times.
