Russian Warships to Arrive in Havana, Cuba, Next Week
According to Cuban officials, next week, four Russian warships, one of which is nuclear-powered, will dock in Havana, Cuba, emphasizing the longstanding friendly ties between the two nations.
According to AP, Cuba's Foreign Ministry said that the four Russian ships are the frigate “Gorshkov,” the nuclear-powered submarine “Kazan,” the fleet oil tanker “Pashin” and the salvage tug “Nikolai Chiker.”
The ships are scheduled to be in Havana from June 12 to June 17 and will not transport any nuclear weapons, with officials stressing that their presence poses no threat to the region.
This deployment is seen as part of Russia's broader response to U.S. backing of Ukraine and may involve Russian long-range bombers flying near the U.S. East Coast, as per CBS News reports.
