At an event in Baltimore, President Biden addressed a crowd of several hundred gathered at the port, with the shimmering water as a backdrop. He praised local officials and longshoremen union workers who recently received significant pay raises, highlighting the hard work and dedication of those involved in the recovery efforts.

Biden focused on the impressive repair of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, stating, “Estimates suggested it would take six months or more, but you cleared it in 78 days.” He acknowledged the support from workers nationwide, emphasizing, “Including, yes, from Puerto Rico.” This comment sparked cheers, likely a nod to recent controversial remarks made about Puerto Rico at the Trump hate rally.

The President humorously added, “I’d like to take that guy for a swim out there,” which drew laughter from the audience. He also joked about Rep. Steny Hoyer, who was present, saying, “Steny is looking at me like ‘Don’t get going, Joe, slow up.’”

Continuing his speech, Biden took a jab at his predecessor’s failed promises, mocking Trump’s Infrastructure Week by stating, “He didn’t build a damn thing.” He highlighted the union-friendly nature of his administration’s efforts, particularly in areas like climate change, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

In concluding his remarks, Biden praised Baltimore for its resilience, noting how it “got back up fast” after recent challenges, representing the nation's enduring spirit.

Later, he joined County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott at BMORE LICKS, a local ice cream shop, to further engage with the community.
