From his humble beginnings in Plains, Georgia, to his leadership as the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication to peace, human rights, and service.

President Carter's life is defined by his tireless advocacy for the disenfranchised and his quest for global diplomacy. His presidency was marked by landmark achievements, including the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel, a monumental step toward peace in the Middle East. Even after leaving the White House, Carter’s commitment to humanity never wavered. Through The Carter Center, which he founded with his beloved wife, Rosalynn, in 1982, he worked to combat diseases, oversee elections, and promote democracy and human rights around the world. Later, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his lifelong humanitarian efforts.

I had the honor and absolute pleasure of meeting President Carter in year 2014 in Manhattan. He graciously signed a copy of his book for me, we talked, and since then, I have eagerly awaited his heartfelt Thanksgiving greetings each year, which always included a picture of the entire family.

This was the first year without Rosalynn by his side.

While the news of his passing saddens us all, we find comfort in the thought that now both President Carter and his beloved Rosalynn are forever side by side.

The bond shared by President Carter and Rosalynn was profound—a true partnership in love and service to the nation and the world.

In fact, this is how President Carter described the most important day of his life:

May he rest in well-deserved peace.
