Biden-Harris Administration Celebrates Historic Job Creation and Infrastructure Investments
The U.S. Department of Transportation is highlighting the impact of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, which has led to the creation of over 1.7 million construction and manufacturing jobs and more than 700,000 transportation sector jobs since the administration began. Excluding residential construction, over 1.3 million jobs have been created in construction and manufacturing. The administration’s agenda has also spurred union job growth, adding 400,000 union workers since 2021.
Funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has enabled American workers to drive over 60,000 projects to rebuild critical infrastructure, including bridges, roads, ports, and airports. Through the Build America, Buy America Act, all materials for federally funded projects are sourced domestically, further strengthening the economy and supply chains. These efforts are boosting America’s global competitiveness and creating millions of middle-class jobs.
Key projects include:
The Brightline West High-Speed Rail connecting Las Vegas and Southern California, expected to create 35,000 construction jobs and 1,000 permanent positions.
The Hudson River Tunnel Project, creating over 72,000 jobs while updating critical rail infrastructure between New Jersey and Manhattan.
The Blatnik Bridge Replacement in Minnesota and Wisconsin, creating nearly 10,000 jobs and improving safety for commuters.
California's High-Speed Rail Service project, already generating over 14,000 union construction jobs.
The Long Bridge Project, expanding rail capacity between Washington, D.C., and Richmond, VA, while creating 36,000 jobs.
The Biden-Harris Administration is also focused on workforce development, launching Investing in America Workforce Hubs and making record investments in apprenticeships to connect workers with good-paying jobs in high-demand sectors.
